Suspect in custody after Monroe purse snatching | Crime

MONROE, MI (WTOL) – Matthew Edward Siders, 25, of Maybee Michigan is in the Monroe County Jail after police say he stole a woman’s purse and attempted to withdraw money from her checking account. 

According to police, around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday Siders followed the victim out of the Hi-Lite Grocery Store on South Telegraph Road in Monroe, assaulted the woman, and took her purse. 

Later Wednesday, the victim received a call from an employee of the Cashland store on North Telegraph Road in Monroe to inform her someone was attempting to withdraw money from her account.  The victim contacted police, who responded to the store and arrested Siders. 

Siders faces charges of Strong Arm Robbery (Purse Snatching), Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Uttering and Publishing.
